I recently got the opportunity to see the movie, Top Five. There was a scene where Chris Rock’s character went to his old neighborhood. While reuniting with his family during a get-together (picture the family cook-out scene in any 90’s era black movie) they started debating about their ‘Top Fives’ of hip-hop rappers. As a hip-hop head myself, I thought it would be fun to share mine.
During what I believe to be the most exciting 4th quarter in hip-hop/R&B, Nicki Minaj drops her “highly anticipated” album, The Pinkprint. Check out my thoughts.
K. Michelle is the girl that I went to high school with that now has 4 kids and is on the 5th round of her on/off baby daddy relationship who she claims is her hubby, but ain’t no paperwork. She dropped an album earlier this week and I’m going to start writing more again…
Some might think I only review good music and those people are correct. Why waste words on bulls*it? Jermaine Cole released an album earlier this week that no one knew about until a few weeks ago. No Promo. No Marketing. No Scandal. Just Music.
Although I don’t celebrate July 4th (another post for another day), everyone else is! While most were anticipating the release of Jay-Z’s ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail'; his tour partner, Justin Timberlake released a video for ‘Tunnel Vision’.
Scandal lovers and Kerry stans rejoice!
So remember that time I said, “J.Cole could help revive 50 cents career.”
Tamar Braxton and Vince (Braxton?) just confirmed via twitter that there is a new Braxton boy! This great news comes on the night of the season finale of their hit t.v. show, Braxton Family Values.

Paris Jackson was rushed to an LA hospital this morning for a suicide attempt. Her mother Debbie Rowe confirmed it with Entertainment Tonight. She was taken by ambulance around 2AM this morning. Debbie explained, “she’s been going through a lot lately.”
Thoughts and prayers go to Paris. Love ya girl. @ParisJackson

To be honest, I didn’t have any expectations. I thought the original sounded amazing and didn’t need to be touched. But I was pleasantly surprised. They quickened the beat, added a lil something here and there. Wale kept the original first verse, switched up the second. Rihanna put a little bad gal spin on it and voila!
